Free Electrification Assessments for Co-op Customers

Winneshiek Energy District is excited to trial a limited number of First-Step Electrification Assessments and In-depth Electrification Audits in collaboration with Allamakee-Clayton Electric Cooperative and MiEnergy, with funding from the Beneficial Electrification League.

Customers of Allamakee-Clayton and MiEnergy qualify for a free service from our team!

The First-Step Electrification Assessments will include all the elements of a standard Home Energy Assessment. This includes a whole home lighting upgrade to high efficiency LEDs, combustion safety testing of any natural gas or propane appliance, and a blower door test to find any drafts in the home.

In addition, the Green Iowa Americorps team will help homeowners explore savings in utility costs and carbon emissions from electrifying different appliances.  This will include a look at savings from swapping to an electric vehicle, changing to a heat-pump water heater or air conditioner, and suggestions for what to look for when a new furnace is needed.

For customers excited to make some electrification upgrades in the near future, WED’s energy planner, Joel Zook, will follow up with a In-depth Home Electrification Audit.  The audit will dig into each homeowner’s actual energy costs and calculate savings specific to their situation.

Fully vaccinated customers of Allamakee-Clayton Electric or MiEnergy can sign up for an audit here! Spaces are limited, so sign up soon.
