The Winneshiek Energy District is partnering with the Clean Energy Districts of Iowa (CEDI) to offer cities, counties, and multi-family housing entities technical assistance for building projects through CEDI’s Energy Efficiency and Conservation Block Grant.

The Energy Efficiency and Conservation Block Grant (EECBG) Program is a $550 million grant program funded through the Bipartisan Infrastructure Law. It is designed to assist states, local governments, and Tribes in implementing strategies to reduce energy use, to reduce fossil fuel emissions, and to improve energy efficiency. (Energy Efficiency and Conservation Block Grant (EECBG) Program Competitive Awards | Department of Energy)

CEDI applied for and received funding through EECBG’s Competitive Program to provide technical assistance in energy efficiency and renewable energy projects for cities, counties, school districts, and low-income multifamily housing organizations. Eligible projects can include new construction and retrofit projects pursuing clean energy components in their construction via renewables and energy efficiency.

Cities, counties, and multi-family housing units are encouraged to reach reach out to program manager Abby Steffens to learn more and explore possible projects. This program is available through 2026.
