October Breakfast: Solsmart

October 16, 2018 @ 7:30 am - 8:30 am

Free – $10

Nine northeast Iowa cities and counties are partnering with the Energy Districts of northeast Iowa to evaluate the potential to achieve SolSmart designation. SolSmart is a national program that certifies local governments as solar friendly, or “open for solar business”.

This regional SolSmart collaborative is the topic of the October Energy Breakfast, to be held at Tbocks downstairs, on Tuesday October 16th at 7:30 am. All are welcome and requested to register at energydistrict.org/breakfast.

“As a member of the Winneshiek County Planning and Zoning Commission, I strongly support this regional partnership”, said Energy District board member Wendy Stevens.

“Local policy plays an important role in facilitating local investment and sustainable development. Customer-owned solar holds significant promise, and policy should remove roadblocks but also ensure concerns are addressed. The Energy District and their partners will bring technical assistance and outside experts on best practices, at no cost to local governments. It’s a regional win-win.”

The northeast Iowa collaboration between four Energy Districts and nine local governments is led by Winneshiek Energy District, and is part of a tri-state effort also involving clean energy groups and local governments in Minnesota and Wisconsin.
