November, Decorah 

The mornings come pale now, 

thin sunlight over the ridge, 

a soft hush in the streets.

 

I pass the houses with panels on their roofs

and think how simple it looks— light

landing, staying, 

turning into warmth.

 

We call it transition, 

but it feels more like patience, 

like trust. 

The world shifting slowly, 

as if the land already knows 

what we’re trying to do.
