WED is proud to provide hands-on learning opportunities to local college students through semester-long internships.  This semester two international students will help WED move it’s mission forward.

Paula Vega is a sophomore studying at Luther College, majoring in English with a minor in Journalism. She will serve as our Communications Intern this semester! Originally from Costa Rica, Paula brings a fresh international perspective along with her passion for communications and community engagement. Her interest in journalism stems from her desire to connect with people and tell stories that matter to the community. When she’s not in class, you can find her swimming, reading fantasy novels, or working on her own writing projects. She’s particularly excited to help with WED’s October Energy Savings Clinics and use her communication skills to reach our neighbors and create content that truly resonates with local residents. Welcome to WED, Paula!

Joao Fraga Benvenutti is a senior at Luther College from Brazil majoring in Data Science and has a strong passion for sports, particularly tennis. He is excited to embark on his first professional experience and apply the knowledge he has gained at Luther College. He looks forward to developing new skills, and gaining hands-on experience in data science while contributing meaningfully to the WED team and its projects. Welcome to WED, Joao!

Kristin Eggen first came to the Winneshiek Energy District as a Green Iowa AmeriCorps member in 2015. Eight years later, she is thrilled to lead the grassroots clean energy movement in Winneshiek County. Kristin deeply appreciates rural communities, Northeast Iowa, community sustainability, and nonprofit management. She uses The Art of Hosting Conversations that Matter methodology and graphic recording services to drive strategic conversations around community sustainability, justice, fundraising, and nonprofit health.
