Join us at 7:30am at T-Bock’s Underground for this month’s Energy Breakfast. Topic: Wildlife Meets Energy Production.

All energy production has trade-offs. We are familiar with the dangers of fossil fuel consumption, but renewable sources of energy have some drawbacks too, particularly for wildlife and biodiversity. In this section of the talk Lilly Jensen from Winneshiek County Conservation will provide a brief overview of some of the ways wildlife can be affected by different forms of renewable energy production and transmission, possible ways to mitigate those effects, and how they compare to fossil fuels.  Lilly Jensen has been Education and Outreach Coordinator for Winneshiek County Conservation since 2010. She has a Master’s degree in Environmental Humanities from the University of Utah.

Luther’s Assistant Professor of Biology Dawn Reding will dive deeper in to this subject through sharing her research on bat interaction with singular wind turbines.
