The city of Decorah is holding a special election asking the question: "Shall the City of Decorah, in the County of Winneshiek, State of Iowa, be authorized to establish a Municipally-owned electric utility?" Winneshiek Energy District encourages all Decorahans interested in locally-owned clean energy opportunities to attend the public forum at city hall this Saturday morning, 9-11 AM, regarding the electric utility franchise agreement. The Energy District suggests that the bottom line of any franchise agreement should be to keep all options open and retain maximum flexibility and leverage for the city into the future.
