Energy is a highly regulated and policy-driven industry.

This is in part because it affects the livelihood of each person who flips a switch, drives a car, or holds a cell phone.

In Iowa, energy policy is overseen largely by the Legislature and the Iowa Utilities Commission (IUC), a governor-appointed board of 3 individuals. The mission of the IUB is to “regulate utilities to ensure that reasonably priced, reliable, environmentally responsible, and safe utility services are available to all Iowans.”
