It’s official: a group of local citizens representing many sectors of society have formed a non-profit organization called Decorah Power to investigate formation of a Decorah Municipal Electric Utility (MEU). With 180 consumer-owned utilities in Iowa (136 MEUs and 44 rural electric co-ops), Iowan’s understand the value of locally-owned utilities serving and reinvesting in their communities.
