Bumps and Benefits of DIY Solar at NICC

Join us for an energy lunch.
While there are many amazing local solar installers, perhaps you’ve imagined installing your own solar panels? The Winneshiek Energy District and Northeast Iowa Community College invite the public to a lunchtime lecture “The Bumps and Benefits of DIY Solar” at NICC’s Wilder Business Center on Tuesday, October 15th at 12 PM.
The hour-long lunch-and-lecture will feature NICC’s Electrical Industrial instructor Jeff Foster who recently put up his own photovoltaic system this summer at his home in Decorah. His talk will focus on how to install a DIY grid-tied solar system. Foster will guide listeners through some steps involved and some of the rules and regulations regarding solar so that others might better understand the benefits and obstacles to installing a system yourself.
A $10 pizza buffet lunch will be available for purchase. Please register by Friday, October 11th at energydistrict.org/breakfast/.
This event is part of the Winneshiek Energy District’s Energy Breakfast series, a monthly energy forum. The Winneshiek Energy District works toward a vision of 100% local, renewable, efficient energy in Winneshiek County and beyond
