Clayton County LED Workshop Brightens Savings

The Clayton County Energy District (CCED) will host an LED Lighting Workshop for home, business and farm owners at the Keystone Area Education Center in Elkader on Saturday, March 18th.  The workshop will kick off with a vendor fair followed by a LED lighting workshop where local experts will highlight the benefits of LED lighting fixtures, financial opportunities and energy efficiency programs that may ease the transition to LED upgrades in your home, farm, or business.

Starting at 9:00am local contractors will be available to discuss lighting upgrades. Refreshments will be available during this time and CCED board members will be available to talk about the organization.

At 10am the program will explore LED technology, why energy conservation is important in rural communities and which programs support the change to LED technology at home, on the farm, and at work. Alliant Energy and Allamakee Clayton REC will share information about LED rebates and incentives programs and farm Energy Planner Joel Zook will expound on farm and business opportunities and what it means for the bottom line.  The Green Iowa AmeriCorps team will be present to share about their home energy efficiency and direct install program

The CCED is a newly formed local nonprofit interested in developing local clean energy options. Those interested in learning more about these events can visit www.claytoncounty.energydistrict.org or contact joleenj@energydistrict.org.
